CBF Announces New TBF National Semi Final Qualification Rules

The California Bass Federation has heard its anglers and made changes for the 2017 season during its annual board meeting.  Our goal is to not only maintain the prestige of moving up but also encourage participation.  We also wanted to even the playing field for the entire season, including the CBF State Championships.

An angler’s final standings will be determined by adding their top 3 Regional scores and CBF State Championship score.  The top 12 boaters and 12 co-anglers (24 total) will qualify for the TBF National Semi-Finals.  To make it special, the top 6 boaters and 6 co-anglers will receive CBF Benefits as specified on the CBF website.  The second 6 boaters and 6 co-anglers will have their TBF National Semi-Final entry fees paid by the CBF.  The angler designation (boater/co-angler) will be based on how they entered the CBF State Championships and may not switch regardless of their final scores.

The Regional tournament scores will remain the same as they are today.  The scoring is 5 show up points and 100 points for first place counting down one point per position (example, 105 total for first, 104 for second, etc.).  The CBF State Championship will be double of the Regional events and the scoring is 5 show up points for each day of the tournament and 200 points for first place counting down one point per position (example, 210 total for first, 209 for second, etc.).

We are very excited with this new format.  We look forward to seeing you all for the new season.  The first tournament will be in only a few weeks at Lake Shasta.
