Conference Call Board Meeting

- Checking account balance is $15,860.03. All bills are paid but have not paid anything for this years State Championship.
Archie Steele – 2008 State Championship
- State Championship at New Melones and we have already received the $2000 for hosting the two day event.
- Fairgrounds are already reserved by somebody else so we are comparing a few different places. Trying to have everything from the check-on thru the dinner and awards at one location. Possibly having it at the golf course if they can accommodate us.
- Michelle Lee, Robert Lee’s mother, is offering us a 15% discount at their hotel and she’s trying to get the other local hotels to give us the same deal.
- Live release boat is lined up
- Already has some volunteers lined up
- Qualifiers are listed on our website along with the “Wild Card” qualifiers
- Brian Day and Scott Sweet will start working with Craig to get our sponsor product for the raffle.
- Kelly Willis will order the T-shirts ordered. Will make sure to order more of the larger sizes and no mediums.
- Archie Steele has the cases of oil that was sent home with him from the Western Divisional
- Archie will mail out the qualification letters and entry form to the anglers approximately 3 to 4 weeks before the deadline. Does not want them sent out to early as they may get lost.
Archie Steele and Ray Leyerly – Wild Card
- Twenty-six anglers qualified for the wild card.
- Ray will get the permit for Lake Pyramid for possibly the last weekend in July or the first weekend in August. Needs to be purchased ASAP so that then anglers can be notified and entries returned.
Scott Sweet and Ray Leyerly – New region
- Scott received email from local clubs with a high interest for a new region that would involve Diamond Valley, Lake Elsinore, Perris, and Silverwood.
- There are already 2 to 3 clubs in this area that are affiliated now and possibly more if we were to have this region.
- Lake Elsinore Bass Club had a huge turnout at their “Wounded Warriors” tournament.
- Mike Nemec, who was AOY in 2007 for the So Cal Federation region, currently the vice president of the Lake Elsinore Bass Club has volunteered to be the Tournament director if we approve this region.
- David Pauley currently the President of the Lake Elsinore Bass Club has volunteered to be the Regional director if we approve this region.
- Scott has explained what is expected to Mike and David if they were to be voted in. They have expressed that they see a minimum of 20 to 30 anglers per event.
- Ray has spoken with anglers that fish his region and they would fish this new region and his region. This would give anglers down south a more versatile travelers region.
- Archie stressed the importance of following all Federation rules and making sure the anglers are in an affiliated
Motion was made by Ray Leyerly for the new region: Region 8 – Inland Empire for the 2009 season. They will be on probation pending their numbers and compliance to all rules. Ben Willis seconded the motion. All board members on the call were in favor. Unanimous vote for the new region and Scott Sweet will notify both Mike and David. Scott will also advise them on their next steps.
Archie Steele – tournament director changes and 2009 season
- Mark Langner gave his notice that this will be his last year as tournament director. He will continue doing the traveler’s points. There is interest by a long time federation member to run this region. He’s still undecided but will need to be voted in at the next elections.
- Eldon Vieira gave his notice that this was his last year as tournament director. Joe Kopp, long time Federation angler has volunteered to be tournament director for the Sacramento region. He wrote the article for the newsletter and did the throw out points. He will be officially voted in at the next elections.
- There will be a face to face board meeting at the State Championship. If will be held on Friday night at 6PM. We will try to have all issues resolved prior to the meeting so that we can just to the official boating.
- Archie will purchase all the permits for t R1, R2, R3, R4, R5 and Ray Leyerly will purchase all of the permits forR6, R7 and R8. Tony Thomasy has already purchased the permits for November and December events.
- TD’s need to get their request dates and lakes to Archie ASAP.
- TD’s need to avoid end of May due to Western divisional and no double booking same dates for regions close to each other.
Brian Day – Newsletter and Sponsors
- Still missing articles from region 3, region 4, a president’s message, and a youth update.
- John Miller volunteered to do the presidents message and Sal said he would get the article for the kids written up.
- Mustad is back on board as a sponsor.
- Jackall joins us and the will be donating product to the state team members.
John Miller – Conservation update
- He’s contacting all of the regions to see how the Quagga mussels are affecting their regions.
Scott Sweet will extend the invitation to the Inland Empire region directors to join us at the state championship. They will also be included in upcoming conference calls to get a feel of how things work. Joe Kopp will also be invited.
We will be holding additional conference calls to get all things in order. The next executive board call will be on Wednesday, June 25th. The next regular board meeting call will be on Tuesday, July 1st.
